About Velva

Velva is a yarn–pattern matching tool built for yarn stores. It helps customers find suitable yarns for a pattern — and suitable patterns for a yarn — using only the store’s own inventory. The goal is simple: reduce uncertainty, support better decisions and creativity, and help stores convert visitors into confident yarn buyers. We even support 1-strand to many-strand conversion making chosing yarns truely a creative and personal process.

Velva is designed to be practical and easy to offer. Each store receives its own search page tailored to its inventory, and customers are always directed back to the store’s website to complete their purchase. You can offer it as an online aid only or support your staff with the tool on an ipad in the store.

About the founder

Velva is created by Anna, a researcher and product builder with a background in language technology and applied AI. The project grew out of hands-on experience with knitting, yarn substitution, and the everyday questions yarn stores help customers solve.

Velva is woman-made and built in the EU, with a focus on clarity, reliability, and thoughtful software design.
